A Full Service Community founded in 1910 Timber Lake is the county seat of historic Dewey county.

Fossils are part of the reason Timber Lake has a museum. A collection of ammonites found aMosasaurnd donated by the late Helen Ross was one of the museum’s first permanent exhibits. Experts say it is one of the finest collections of ammonites in the world.
