Dewey County Library - Bringing Words To Life
Head Librarian Cherie Leibel
A public library is the cornerstone of a community. The City of Timber Lake has been fortunate to have one since 1911 when a small library was opened in a church, with many donations of books and magazines just as it is today. Then in 1924, a public library opened and has been in different locations in the city. The library governed by a board of directors appointed by the Dewey County Commissioners. In 1987 the Historical Society members and the Dewey County Library board met and applied for a grant in the amount of $39,000 from the State Library to build a new county library. This was a matching grant that was matched by local funds. The New Library was opened December 1988 and dedicated in January 1989. Today the library offers computers and free public access. We encourage everyone to stop and see what the library has to offer. For the latest from the library go to their Facebook page
